KRAUTKOSH23 - UPDATE #15 Into the Wild Blue Yonder

Hey,

Chris here from Military Aviation History with the fifteenth update from the trip to Oshkosh 2023 you crowdfunded. Today was the last filming day, so let me tell you all about it!

“Because I was inverted” - Maverick

Today we filmed at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington. For this shoot, I selected the F4U-1D Corsair - or rather the FG-1D - and the F4F Wildcat - or again, rather the FM-2. While both are the same as the usual Corsair, save that they were build by Goodyear and General Motors, these Navy legends were a must when I saw what the museum had. The choice was difficult. Their collection is exceptional, from jets to WW2 aircraft and a plethora of WW1 fighters. If you ever visit Seattle, pop into the museum - it’s a great place to visit.

“Center, we are showing a little closer to 2000”

Though we only had two hours and no cockpit access on this visit to the museum, the walkaround videos will give you a great overview of both aircraft and they round off the trip nicely by giving the US Navy a chance to shine. Fitting really, given that the Seafair airshow was only two days ago in Seattle with the Navy’s very own Blue Angels once again stealing the show (or so I have been reliably informed).

Tomorrow, I will send a full roundup of all the Inside the Cockpits and walkarounds filmed while in the States. It’s quite a list so look out for that update and until then, thank you for making this project a reality!

Chris
