Hello Oshkosh!

KRAUTKOSH23 - UPDATE #3 Hello Oshkosh!

Why hello there,

Chris here from Military Aviation History with the second update from the trip to Oshkosh 2023 you crowdfunded. Before I jump into todays update, you should now have definitely received a separate invite to the Shipshape platform to log in and check on updates (+videos there). If not, please also check your spam. The link to the platform is:

Ok, now what happened today? Not much to be honest, you know… I just arrived at what is the largest airshow on the world…yes, I am massively excited! Coming into Oshkosh, I spotted the first planes overhead, flying in parallel to the road. What a welcome. Finally, on the grounds I checked in (media stuff admin…..boring but necessary) and then set out to check out the EAA museum on site.

At the EAA museum, I made a beeline for the exhibits - time was short today as I arrived in the mid-afternoon. There are a lot of racers and experimentals here. Figures, in a museum called the Experimental Aircraft Association. Those were fun to see and read about, I don’t know too much about that part of aviation.

Finally, I hit up the WW2 hanger which featured a (hanging) Spanish 109 and Spitfire, as well as the venerable XP-51 (the oldest Mustang prototype that had been handed over to the Army Air Force). Finally, I topped that off with a quick visit outside to the Cavalier Mustang and J2F Duck, as well as the Mossie and P-38. The aim is to film some episodes on these aircraft, after having checked in with EAA tomorrow.

A Mustang - but a Cavalier Mustang (note the vertical stabiliser extension)

I am very much looking forward to tomorrow and filming on site. More to follow, stay tuned!

Y’all have a great one and thank you for making this project a reality!

Chris
